What is Sports Massage Therapy?

Sports Massage focuses on soft tissues to reduce pain due to muscle tension, and improve range of motion.

Effleurage and Myofascial work warms the muscles and prepares them for deeper strokes and stretches

Petrissage - muscle kneading with firmer pressure

Stripping muscles is a deep, focused pressure to smooth muscles fibers adhering to other  tissues (“knots”).  Deep pressure is used but adjusted to the client’s tolerance.

Circular Friction and Trigger Point are additional deep techniques to address sensitive areas

​

Stretching is essential to improve one’s range of motion

​

Tapotement involves tapping or percussion to tone and re-energize the muscles
